Median Download Speeds Ranked by Country - 2020

Overall, the US download speed ranking isn’t too bad—number 13 out of 192, but there’s a lot of room for improvement. Especially in the rural areas. Just imagine what we can do for our entire country by taking broadband to The Final Mile in Arizona. Read the report.

Median Internet Speeds by USA States - 2020

According to fastmetrics.com, the average download speed in the US is 54.99 Mbps, but in Arizona, we’re sitting in the mid-third of the pack with just 35.93 Mbps download speed—well below the average. And our rural areas are much slower. The tools are available to take broadband to The Final Mile; we just need more support to do it.

More Americans than Ever Before Have Access to High-Speed Broadband

The digital divide continues to narrow as more Americans than ever before have access to high-speed broadband. The divide narrowed by more than 14% in 2018 and by more than 30% between 2016 and 2018. In 2019, fiber broadband networks became available to roughly 6.5 million additional homes—more than in any previous year! Large and small internet providers are expanding the reach. These expansions have taken place mostly in urban areas and now cover the majority of the country’s population.

Our goal is to keep the momentum going. We can’t stop until broadband internet reaches all of Arizona’s families living in The Final Mile. The April 2020 report of the Federal Communications Commission states that we have the “advanced telecommunications capability” to do it.
